Round Turn and Two Half Hitches

The Round Turn and Two Half Hitches knot is used to secure a line to a round post such as a pile. It is a slip knot, similar to the clove hitch but without the crossings. To tie this knot.

• Wrap the working part 540° around the post, as in A.
• Secure with two half hitches. To tie the two half hitches, pass the working part over the standing part of the two round turns forming a loop, then pass it around the standing part again, as in B and C.
• Draw the two half hitches tight against the standing part. The two half hitches can be tightened by slipping the knot toward the pile or loosened by slipping it away from the pile.
